As such, renting or leasing a property is usually an attractive alternative to purchasing.

With the new legal amendments by the local Government, both landlords and tenants are afforded a good level of protection when signing a rental lease.  Most leases are long term, which is defined as being no less than 1 year and have certain conditions.

 

• In a 1 year lease, the first 6 months are mandatory, afterwards the Tenant may cancel the lease with a 1 month notice

• In a 2 year lease, the first 9 months are mandatory, afterwards the Tenant may cancel the lease with a 2 month notice

• In a 3 year or longer lease, the first 12 months are mandatory, afterwards the Tenant may cancel the lease with a 3 month notice.

In call cases, if the Landlord decides not to renew the lease, the Tenant must be informed at least 3 months prior to the expiration, otherwise the lease is automatically renewed at existing terms, conditions and pricing.
